A STICKY NOTE GUIDE TO LIFE BILLBOARD PROMOTION

On October 13, HarperCollins UK published Chaz Hutton’s A STICKY NOTE GUIDE TO LIFE.

To kick off their promotional campaign, Harper erected two 48-sheet interactive billboards in Dalston (North East London) and Shoreditch (Central London).

A further batch of advertisements will go up on the 21st November for two weeks across London - including in Brixton, Clapham, Shoreditch and Hackney - with new designs for each that will tie into the individual location.

In addition to the interactive billboard, HarperCollins also produced billboard ads throughout the city, like this one:

ROBERT J. SAWYER NAMED MEMBER OF THE ORDER OF CANADA

Robert J. Sawyer—called the ‘dean of Canadian Science Fiction’, and a staunch supporter of up-and-coming authors—has been named one of 113 new members of the Order of Canada.

Founded in 1967, the membership to the Order (one of the highest civilian honors in Canada) is given to those who “desire a better country”.   All living Canadians are eligible for membership, except federal and provincial politicians and judges while they hold office.  Since its inception, the Order of Canada has been bestowed on 6, 531 people.  Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including scientists, artists, actors, humanitarians, and businessmen.  Members are selected by the Chancellery of Honors following a nomination and a consultation of experts.

We’re thrilled has been given this wonderful honor.  Meanwhile his latest novel, QUANTUM NIGHT, is his second consecutive Canadian bestseller, making 2016 a very nice year for Rob.

QUANTUM NIGHT HITS THE BESTSELLER LISTS AT #1 AND #7

Robert J. Sawyer’s new book, QUANTUM NIGHT, debuts this week at #1 on the McNally Robinson Hardcover Fiction list, and at # 7 on Maclean’s bestseller list in Canada.

The novel is set in a dark near-future North America where the election of a  Donald Trump-like jingoist American President is counterbalanced by the rise of Canada’s first Muslim prime minister, the real-life current mayor of Calgary, Naheed Nenshi.  Told of his appearance in the book, Nenshi took the opportunity to plug it on Twitter.

In its combination of mind-bending science fiction and the political and social themes of today, QUANTUM NIGHT follows such classics of their day as THE INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS and THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.  The novel is a dark portrayal of a very real political downturn in the U.S., and is remarkably prescient given Sawyer finished it before Trump rose to political attention.  A news story about it can be found here:
